Cookie Policy
Effective Date: 2026-03-01 Last Updated: 2026-03-01
This Cookie Policy explains how [ADD LEGAL NAME] ("we", "us"), operating PureConsent at pureconsent.com, uses cookies and similar technologies.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They serve various purposes such as remembering your preferences, enabling functionality, and analyzing usage.
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 PureConsent Website (pureconsent.com)
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| pc_consent | Necessary | Stores your cookie consent preferences for this website. Contains consent categories, config version, visitor ID (pseudonymous UUID, used to maintain consent state and link consent event records), and timestamp. | 1 year | PureConsent (first-party) |
2.2 PureConsent Dashboard (app.pureconsent.com)
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| pc_session | Necessary | Maintains your authenticated dashboard session. Contains a session token used for API authorization. Set via JavaScript; not HTTP-only. Attributes: Secure (when served over HTTPS), SameSite=Lax, Path=/. | 7 days (max-age) | PureConsent (first-party) |
| sidebar_state | Functional | Remembers whether the dashboard sidebar is expanded or collapsed. Contains only the string "expanded" or "collapsed". This cookie stores only a UI preference value and does not contain account or identity information. | 7 days (max-age) | PureConsent (first-party) |
2.3 Third-Party Technologies
| Technology | Category | Purpose | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Necessary | Bot and spam prevention on forms (newsletter signup). May set strictly necessary technical cookies required to validate the challenge and prevent automated abuse. | Cloudflare, Inc. |
If additional cookies are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated accordingly.
3. Cookie Categories
PureConsent uses the following consent categories on its own website:
- Necessary — Required for the website to function. These cookies are always active because they are essential for core functionality. Includes the consent cookie itself and session authentication.
- Functional — Non-essential cookies that remember user preferences (e.g., sidebar state in the dashboard).
We do not use third-party functional, analytics, or marketing cookies.
4. How We Use Cookies
- Consent Management: The pc_consent cookie records your consent choices so we do not ask you again on every page visit. It is base64url-encoded JSON containing your category preferences, a config version, a pseudonymous visitor ID, and a timestamp.
- Authentication: The pc_session cookie keeps you logged in to the dashboard. It is set via JavaScript (not HTTP-only), with Secure (when served over HTTPS) and SameSite=Lax attributes, scoped to the dashboard domain. The session token does not contain personal data and is validated server-side.
- Security: Cloudflare Turnstile validates form submissions against automated abuse without tracking you for advertising purposes.
Cookies used for authentication and consent management are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking purposes.
5. PureConsent as a Consent Management Tool
PureConsent is a consent management platform. When deployed on our Customers' websites, the Widget sets a pc_consent cookie on the Customer's domain (not ours). That cookie is governed by the Customer's own cookie policy, not this one.
As a consent management tool, PureConsent helps Customers manage their own cookie categories (necessary, functional, analytics, marketing) and comply with privacy regulations.
6. How to Manage Cookies
Via Our Consent Banner
When you first visit our website, a consent banner is displayed. You can:
- Accept all cookies.
- Reject non-essential cookies.
- Customize your preferences by category.
You can change your preferences at any time by clicking the consent preferences button (if available on the page) or by clearing the pc_consent cookie in your browser.
Via Browser Settings
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Cookies
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions
Note: Blocking necessary cookies may affect website functionality.
Withdrawing Consent
You can withdraw consent at any time by:
- Using the consent preferences controls on our website.
- Deleting the pc_consent cookie from your browser.
- Using your browser's cookie management settings.
After withdrawal, we will stop setting non-essential cookies (if any are in use). Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawfully carried out before consent was withdrawn.
7. Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control
We respect the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a Sec-GPC: 1 header and you are in a jurisdiction where GPC is legally recognized (such as under CCPA/CPRA), our system will honor this by defaulting affected non-essential categories to opted-out.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated through the consent banner or by email.
